The Woolcott Real Estate team will hold its ninth, annual coat drive Nov. 11.
The drive supports the Good Shepherd Centre and will see the team collect new and gently used winter coats and other winter items at its 493 Dundas St. E. office from 10 a.m. to noon.
Justine Woolcott said that for the past eight years, the team has invited the community to help fill a moving truck to support those in need.

“It was a much smaller event when we first started it,” she said. “It brings together the community and especially with the economy shifting, we’ve found the need becomes greater and greater each year.”
Woolcott said filling the moving truck every year amounts to thousands of coats. She added team members will be on hand to help unload donations from vehicles.
“When we first started it was pretty ambitious and I think last year we got it full,” she said. “Our goal is to fill it up again.”
Woolcott noted they also accept small appliances and other clothes — including mittens, gloves and socks — things that will keep people warm and get them through the winter.

“For anyone that comes we have a small token of appreciation,” she said. “We always have hot chocolate, coffee and snacks, because it always tends to be the coldest day of November that we do this.”
Anyone who is unable to make it to donate on Saturday, Nov. 11, but still wants to donate can drop off their items prior to the day in a donation bin in front of the Waterdown office. The donations will be delivered to the Good Shepherd on Nov. 13.
