Underdogs. Comebacks. Spoilers. Call ‘em what you will. We all love a good come-from-behind story and the Minor Peewee AA Sabres made significant steps this week to writing their own.

Coming off a lacklustre season, the boys started the Tri-County playdowns as “underdogs.” Early in the week, the Sabres found themselves down 4-1 against Orangeville with 4:10 to go in the third period. They orchestrated their comeback with solid goaltending by Dylan Dukeshire and stellar defence by Hunter O’Dell, Connor Miller, Adam Scholz and Shayne Scullion. Defensive play kept the team in the game until the offensive lines put forth a huge effort and produced goals by Hunter

Bosch, Ben Harrison, Ryan Ricker and Jamie Stanton to tie it up. With 24 seconds left, Nathan Barrett scored the game-winning goal.

In the second game of the week, the Sabres were once again down 3-1 in the third before tying up the Burlington Eagles 3-3 in an exciting game that needed a full overtime period and still remained undecided. Goaltender Jake Blanche held the Sabres side to three goals in a solid performance.

Several third period rushes lit the clock with goals by Matthew Oosterveld, Logan McCarles and Barrett, who came through again with a goal late in the third to tie it up.

The overtime period was a tough one and the Eagles were worn down and kept scoreless with the help of constant checking by Nick Foster, Kyle McCartney, Jonathan Braeden, and Connor Maxwell.

This week the Minor Peewee AA Sabres look to keep their playoff comeback alive!
