“Any person who has been a Fair Ambassador will tell you that it is an excellent, often life-changing experience. It builds confidence, leadership, and communications skills, plus it’s a chance to meet new people and have some terrific adventures. It helps develop and groom young people for a lifetime of community involvement,” Easson noted.

Contestants must be 17 years old by Aug. 1 and a resident of Haldimand County or the former township of Onondaga.
Contestants can learn more about the fair, meet new people and improve their communication and leadership skills by entering the competition. There are also prizes available, just for entering.
The successful candidate will represent the Caledonia Fair at community events, including the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Convention, and receives training in public speaking and personal presentation.
The ambassador also receives a $1,000 bursary, presented at the end of their term.

The competition consists of a brief interview with three judges, the preparation of a visual resume board, a short prepared speech and an impromptu question-and-answer question.
The competition will be held during the Caledonia Agricultural Society membership appreciation event on Saturday, May 25. The deadline for applications is 9 a.m. on Monday, May 13.
