Kerry O’Connor was sitting at her desk when she noticed from across the room that her purse could stand a good clean out. While sorting through its contents, she found a few lottery tickets and decided to check them using the OLG app.
While she’s accustomed to winning small prizes or free tickets, the app displayed a message O’Connor had never seen before.

“It said I won,” O’Connor said in a news release from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. “I was so freaked out – I was in shock.”
O’Connor, 51, won a $1 million Maxmillions prize in the Feb. 6 Lotto Max draw. She plays Lotto Max a few times a month, but this is her first big win, according to the release.
“I ran downstairs to tell my husband and kids and they were all doing the happy dance,” O’Connor said in the release. “I jumped up and down a few times. “It’s an amazing feeling.”
O’Connor plans to pay off bills, invest and take a family vacation to Italy with her winnings.

“This win has taken a huge burden off me and will help me in many ways,” she added in the release.
