A former gas station building at the corner of Fiddlers Green Road and Wilson Street in Ancaster was recently demolished by the owner.
Sherri Brown, the constituency co-ordinator for Ancaster city councillor Craig Cassar, stated in an email to a resident and the Ancaster News that the city issued a demolition permit several weeks ago for the 139.3-square-metre one-storey building at 16 Wilson St. W. that had previously housed a Petro-Canada gas station. The property, located beside a commercial plaza, is still surrounded by a fence.
City officials have confirmed that there is currently no application to redevelop the location. The property is designated mixed-use, medium density.

Petro-Canada has not responded to several requests for comment on the property.
Alexandra Campbell, spokesperson for the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, said in response to questions earlier this year about the gas tanks buried on the property that the owner has two years to remove the tanks and piping, and submit an environmental assessment to the organization.
“The environmental assessment provides assurance that no fuel contaminants have leaked into the ground,” said Campbell.
Campbell said the TSSA was scheduled to visit the site for an inspection and “write orders so the owner clearly understands their responsibilities.”
