
Shoppers Drug Mart will launch its eighth annual Tree of Life fundraising campaign this Saturday, September 26, with 100 per cent of the proceeds from this year’s event going to boost local women’s health organizations and charities in the communities served by the company’s more than 1,144 Shoppers Drug Mart/ Pharmaprix stores across Canada.
“With seven years of successful campaigns and over $11 million raised, the funds from the Tree of Life campaign harvest have provided hundreds of local health charities across the country with essential program funding,” said Lisa Gibbs, Manager, Community Investment, Shoppers Drug Mart. “We believe it is possible to reach our goal of raising $2.2 million to improve the lives of women and their families across Canada through the combined efforts of our pharmacist-owners and their teams at store-level, our employees and customers.”
The Tree of Life campaign gives customers the opportunity to purchase and personalize their own “leaf” for a loonie, “maple leaf” for $5, or an “apple” for $50. Each “leaf” and “apple” is attached to a Tree of Life, which is prominently displayed in the store. This year’s campaign runs until October 16.
Each Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacist-owner selects a local women’s health organization that resonates best with their community; locally, the proceeds will be directed to Burlington Breast Cancer Support Services
To help support this year’s campaign, customers can visit their local Shoppers Drug Mart location and ask the cashier for details. To boost the campaign, the Hamilton Street store is planning a community barbecue and bake sale on October 3 from noon to 3 p.m.
