The Ancaster Rotary Club A.M. is hoping to turn heads and open pocketbooks by offering a traditional muscle car as the showcase raffle prize for its 2023 fundraising event.
For a ticket, or three or eight, the club is presenting a 2024 “Rapid Red” Ford EcoBoost convertible Mustang as the grand prize.
“It is a special prize this year,” said Rotary president Karl Handley.

Handley said this is the second time the club has held the raffle. In 2021, the winner opted to take a cash prize rather than the Mustang as is, with a retail value of more than $45,000.
Handley said Leggat Discovery Ford in Burlington, which provided the vehicle for the raffle, said it was the one vehicle that would spur interest in the community.
“We are thankful to Leggat for providing the Mustang,” said Handley.
The car has heated and cooled seats, a remote starter, a heated steering wheel, active noise cancellation, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker sound system, welcome/farewell lighting, and a turbocharged 2.3-litre engine that delivers 315 horsepower.

Tickets are one for $20, three for $50 or eight for $100 and can be purchased at rotaryancasterraffle.ca.
In addition, said Handley, the Rotary Club has an optional 50/50 cash draw for people “who wish to increase their chances of winning more.”
At this time, Handley says the 50/50 draw has $6,000, with about six weeks remaining. The draw is scheduled for noon on Dec. 28 at the Ancaster Rotary Centre on Jerseyville Road.
Handley says the organization is hoping to raise at least $150,000. “That is the goal, but if we can raise more that would be great.”
The funds raised will go towards community projects in Ancaster, Hamilton and the surrounding area. Handley said the Ancaster Community Services will receive some funds, as well as Keaton’s House, Children’s Hospice Hamilton, a $25 million proposed facility that is planned to serve Hamilton, Halton, Niagara, Kitchener/Waterloo and Brant County.
