Restaurants from Cambridge, Oakville, Jordan Station on Canada’s best list

Local favourite Restaurant Pearl Morissette fell from fourth to fifth since last year’s list — their fourth time making the top 100.

The Jordan Station restaurant and winery was also named best destination restaurant this year.

For about five years, the earth-to-table-style restaurant has been taking reservations and winning accolades. Pearl Morissette’s winery has been operating for much longer.

The restaurant/winery recently announced plans for 18 suites overlooking their orchards for patrons who wish to stay overnight.

Cambridge’s Langdon Hall came in seventh on the list. The restaurant at the sprawling country hotel and spa was called a “magical journey” by a judge.

Langdon Hall is notable for their seasonal ingredients grown in their own gardens and foraged in surrounding forests and their vast wine cellar.

Oakville’s Hexagon placed 34th on the list. The contemporary restaurant in town square is described as “fine dining without airs.”

This year’s list was compiled by a 130-judge panel of restaurateurs, critics, food writers and enthusiasts that were required to travel and vote on at least three restaurants outside of their area, the Canada’s 100 Best website says.

Topping the list was Montreal’s Mon Lapin.
